American Cockroach

In the summer time this cockroach accumulates in large numbers outdoors in alleys and yards. They then moves into homes and other structures through holes where plumbing and electrical services into structures. Caulking (sealing) holes around these service entries points goes along ways in keeping this cockroach out. Some people call them “Water bugs” because they are usually seen near hot water tank, furnace room, kitchen sink and bathrooms. They’re very sensitive to drying out and these areas warm and moist just the way they like. The prefer fermenting foods but will eat a large variety of foods. For control, baits, gels, granules and sprays are needed inside and outside in addition to exclusion.
